Kevin I think your going about this the wrong way…

People dont try to get noticed by people they dont like or dont admire. Lets take JJ for example. Hes popular for a reason, his art style and his art hit a large audience, that mixed with the amazing talent makes for a popular artist. Now say we have a newer artist with less experience and is new to tumblr. He sees JJs art and is inspired to draw saaay, Molestia. Now the new artist is proud of this piece and would like to show it off as well as look for some critique to grow. You would frown upon this new artist as some scum of the earth trying to ride a more popular artists coat tails?

Art theft is one thing but fan art and gift art should always be a compliment. People making this stuff means that you have reached them in such great manner that you caused them to pick themselves up off their couch and draw. How could you condemn them for this? Honestly isn’t the entire artistic fandom of MLP the same thing but directed at the creators of the show?

Please don’t misunderstand, what you just described there is not in any way similar to the issue I tried to address. Heck, I do that all the time myself :\

Fanart is fanart and it can be a good way to get exposure. This is specifically about gift art and losing yourself in the process of trying to impress someone.
